Joanne Lorriman BSC (Hons) - This Is Why I Have Launched...

My name is Joanne, and I am from West Yorkshire though now live with my partner and dog near Market Rasen. I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren and love spending as much time as possible with family. I have been in the nursing profession for many years and have seen many changes in the way that the NHS is able to provide the medical, health and social care that people need.

As an Accident and Emergency nurse I am used to working in fast-paced and challenging situations, especially working in A&E during the Covid 19 pandemic, and I believe this makes me well-placed to understand the pressures that the NHS, and especially A&E departments, face on a constant basis. This is why I am launching Lorriman Healthcare Services, a nursing / homecare business which provides the nursing, health and social care to people in their own homes. I believe that good Social Care plays a critical role in supporting the National Health Service and its capacity and ability to deliver high-quality, safe care.

It is well known that people recover better in the familiar surroundings of their own homes, but without support they are unable to go home. Lorriman Healthcare Services can provide the desired support – private nursing, healthcare, social care – to enable people to recover and recuperate at home and help to reduce pressure on hospitals by avoiding unnecessary admission and / or prolonged stays (reduce bed-blocking).

As a nursing professional I firmly believe that healthcare and medical support is a fundamental human right and I am truly passionate about supporting patients and their families to be looked after in their own homes:

  • treating people as clients / customers and not just patients
  • advocating for their needs – medical or social
  • providing emotional support to clients and families
  • delivering exceptional levels of care in line with bespoke care plans
It is common knowledge that Social Care Providers are currently struggling to recruit and retain desperately needed staff, and the potential effects such shortages have on quality of care. The gaps across the NHS, social care and private healthcare are only widening and my team and I are determined to close this gap as much as possible. At Lorriman Healthcare Services our team is hand-picked so that we have like-minded professionals who are allowed to embrace their passion and focus for delivering high-quality, compassionate and empathetic care to people in their own homes.

Why Choose Us?

As a specialist homecare service provider, we provide one-to-one personalised homecare services of the highest quality, led by our Director of Homecare, Joanne, and her team of professionally trained Nurses and Carers.

Our approach is very much person-centred. Our clients are all individuals, and each situation is unique which is why we work with you to create a personal care plan that is right for you. Initially, our Nurse Liaison team visits each client to match their personality to the carer, taking into account things such as physical, religious, emotional and spiritual aspects of the care needed. All of our Nurses and Carers undergo a rigorous interview process and psychometric testing to make sure they meet our standards.

Once they pass this stage of the process, they then go on a five-day induction course which forms part of the whole interview process. Once onboard, our Carers have access to a high level of training and support which far exceeds the mandatory levels set out by the Care Quality Commission. They are fully supported 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, and monitored during their placements.
